A walk- in-interview will be held on 28.6.13 at 12 noon in the Dept. of Zoology, Lady Brabourne College for the post of a Project Fellow for an UGC Major Research Project entitled ‘Epitope mapping of the allergenic proteins of the pollen of a few allergenic plants growing in Kolkata: Implications for immunotherapy and studies on the air pollution impact on their etiology’ under Dr. Sanjukta Mondal (Parui), Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Zoology as Principal Investigator [Ref. No. F. No. 42-559/2013 (SR), dated 22.3.13], for 3 years. Consolidated salary for the post will be Rs. 14,000/- for the first two years and Rs. 16,000/- for the third year. Interested candidates with M.Sc. in Zoology/Life Sciences with at least 55% marks may appear for the interview with a CV, relevant documents (original and one set of photocopies) and a passport size photograph on the said date.

• Admission forms for the session 2013-2014 will be available on the designated site http://ladybrabourneadmissions.com or http://collegeadmission.in from 24.5.2013 to 11.6.2013 (8.30pm).
• There will be an admission test only for English Honours and an interview only for Bengali and Microbiology Honours.
• Date for admission test for English (Honours) is 17.06.13 from 11 am - 12.30 pm.
• Date for interview for Bengali (Honours) is 18.06.13 from 10.00 am – 4.30 pm. All applicants with valid Bank Challan are instructed to appear for the interview within 9.30 am – 2.00 pm at the College Auditorium. No candidate reporting after 2.00 pm will be allowed to appear for the interview. No candidate can seek admission if she fails to attend for the interview.
• Date for interview for Microbiology (Honours) is 18.06.13 from 10.00 am – 4.30 pm. All applicants with valid Bank Challan are instructed to appear for the interview at 9.30 am sharp at the Department of Microbiology (Room No. 26 & 27, Second floor). No candidate can seek admission if she fails to attend for the interview.

1. The Admission Test for English Honours will be held on Monday, 17th June2013 at 11am.
2. Reporting Time for Candidates is from 9.30 to 10am.
3. The college gate will close at 11 am sharp. No candidate will be allowed to enter after 11am.
4. Guardians will not be allowed to enter the college premises.
5. Photo Identity and Bank Challan must be produced at the gate and in the Examination Hall.
6. No mobile phones will be allowed into the Examination Hall.
7. Last year’s question paper is attached. Please note that the same model may not be followed every year.

Syllabus for admission test/interview (answer scripts shall be provided by the college):

• English – Candidates will be tested on grammatical skills, vocabulary, literary appreciation, knowledge of other literatures, fine arts etc.
• Bengali – (10+2) level Bengali syllabus particularly History of Bengali literature and General idea about Bengali literature till drama.
• Microbiology – (10+2) level Biology and Chemistry.

Candidates appearing for Admission Test/Interview must carry:

• Application copy of the Challan.
• Photo identity.

Admission Notice

Admission to the 3-year degree course (B.A/B.Sc), 2013-2014
 

1. Admission forms for the session 2013-2014 will be available on the designated site
   http://ladybrabourneadmissions.com or http://collegeadmission.in from 24.5.2013.
2. Each candidate can apply for a maximum of four subjects. Candidates must take a printout of the application form and challan (3 pages) generated after successful online submission of the forms and produce the same at the time of admission.
3. Kindly note that the Bank Challan Generation Server will not be available between 9.00 PM to 8.30 AM every day.
   Hence, kindly do not make any applications during this period.
   Any attempt to apply during this period will not be entertained by the College.

4. Applicants are required to deposit application fees at any core banking branch of Indian Bank from through cash only on presentation of challan (Bank copy) which can be downloaded after submitting forms online. For applicants from within the State, a list of all the branches in West Bengal has been given for their convenience.
5. Fees must be remitted to the bank within 10days of online form submission. Else their application stands cancelled.
6. The price of each form is Rs. 100/- only.
7. Applicants are required to deposit application fees at any core banking branch of Indian Bank through cash only on presentation of challan (Bank copy) which can be downloaded after submitting forms online.
8. No need to submit the college copy of bank challan to the college immediately. The candidates are required to produce the challan at the time of admission only.
    

   Forms will not be considered valid unless payment is made to the bank

9. For hostel accommodation candidates are required to check the hostel option on each form.
   No further application for hostel will be entertained once the form has been submitted online. 
10. Admission is conducted strictly on the basis of merit.
    There will be an admission test only for English Honours and an interview for Microbiology Honours and Bengali Honours.
11. Date for admission test for English (Honours)/ Microbiology/Bengali Honours will be announced later.
    All applicants have to appear for the same with valid Bank Challan. 
12. Direct admission can be sought to Persian (Honours) course. Candidates are to contact the department after submitting the form.
13. Final list of the selected students will be available on the notice boards (college and this site).
14. There is no provision for admission to pure general courses / B. Ed courses. 
15. Self financing career oriented courses in PUBLIC RELATIONS and ADVERTISING and MULTIMEDIA and ANIMATION are also available for students pursuing graduate courses under Calcutta University. A self financing computer-training course is also held in collaboration with WEBEL Informatics Ltd. (under Dept. of Information Technology, Govt. of West Bengal) and a Spanish Language Training Programme in collaboration with WTCC School of Trade and Communication, Kolkata.
16. Candidates seeking readmission to 1st year B.A./ B.Sc. Honours, 2013 are requested to consult their respective departments on the following dates. They will be have to give an application to the Principal forwarded by the Head of the Department of their respective subjects and then collect their application form from the office at a cost of Rs. 25/- and submit it to the respective department on the same day.
    For Arts subjects: 05.06.13 (11.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m.)
    For Science subjects: 06.06.13 (11.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m.)
    The admission of these candidates will be conducted on the same date as the fresh candidates (the dates of which will be announced later).

Food and Drug Safety

One year Post Graduate Course
For Microbiologists /Nutritionists - Both Girls and Boys

This is the first time one Post Graduate Vocational Course on ‘Food and Drug Safety’ has been introduced for Microbiologists/ Nutritionists in Kolkata. Those who are not willing to join M.Sc or PhD programme in Microbiology/ Food and Nutrition may join this programme of one year and after completion of which they will be ready for a job . The syllabus of the course is designed in such a way that the candidate will become suitable for a Food Analyst or a laboratory assistant post or a post for the technician of a Food Analysis or, a Food Processing or a Food Manufacturing company or a drug Analysis or a Drug Manufacturing Industry. Duration of the Course is from July to June.
The Course has been sponsored by University Grants Commission and the Diploma will be conferred by University of Calcutta
